MKÖ drifting at Sturup Raceway - First event in 8 months.

Have wanted to kick of the blog/story section of my new website since the start of the year. But with all events being pushed forward, like the Lardel Yonaka meet, or just outright cancelled so has the Stories section launch.

But now it was finally time! The first MKÖ drift event of the year was set to happen in May, but was cancelled, making the excitement for the June event even bigger.

Part 1 -
A long winter break from drifting at Sturup, but we’re back.

My expectations for the event were based on the last two MKÖ (MotorKlubb Öresund) events at Sturup Raceway last year; hang with the boys a bit, see their cars in new shapes and colors, see a few other cool cars send it and just have a pretty good time. And that’s exactly what I got, and a lot, lot of it too.

Started of the day barely sleeping out of excitement, started packing the whole shop in the trunk of the S13 early and headed to Malmö to pick up Jonatan (@just.burhoff). Some Fleetwood Mac songs later we finally pull up to Sturup Raceway and what was already a pretty full pit, making it even more clear that the day was going to turn out awesome. The S13 at least looks like a drift-shitbox (I aint drifting it, I’m just a poser, sorry xo) so no one questioned me entering the pit while making my way to the furthest corner of the area where the rest of the guys were setting up their stuff.

This was the first time Stoffe’s (@stoffejarbo) SR20 swapped E30 was at the track after finally being finished after a few years of building, and my first time seeing Andreas (@andreasmkiv) Supra here in a while as well.

Jens (@vlnt_jens) had found his way to a track for the first time, doing so in his 1JZ swapped IS200. He wish he had about 50ish more horsepower since the car started to struggle with power in 3rd gear, but he still had a blast and the car held up great. Going to look amazing with his new BN-style kit.

I need to remember saving some tires so I can drive home later... NO WAIT I have a car-transport!
— A Jens who just came to realization of his own planning.

Part 2 -
The cars

A few of the cars I’ve been around a good number of times, like Eddie’s (@eddiekandersson) Type-X kitted S13 or Mattias (@mattiass1998) V8 swapped E36, but they are definitely not even close to boring to look at because of it. And guessing Mattias agrees based on the picture:

But this was the first time seeing some cars or the new version of said cars too.
Sebastian (@malccolmsson) did a great job upgrading the exterior of his E36 during the winter to a full Musk Customs Bacon kit topped of with a pink paint job with rainbow flake.
Olle (@ollegrandin) left his JZX100 Chaser at home and took his 328 E36 to the track this time instead.
And Lukas (@lukasrahm) has mounted his bodykit on the S13, making it look a bit similar to mine, confusing people making them think that I was on my way out on the track multiple times during the day. Great looking S13 (not biased at all…) and can’t wait to see it all one color one day.

After Paul (@paulboyee) sadly crashed his super clean S13 at Discodans in 2019 he has spent the last two years bringing it back to life. From straightening the body, swapping the rear quarter panels, building a cage and putting on a BN-style body kit, Paul and his friends has done a great job with the car. It looks absolutely stunning and it was great seeing him send it again.
Hoping to make a full coverage of the car soon.

Isak’s (@ikeynemo) beautiful rhd E46 made it’s way back to Sturup for the event. But while reversing the car onto the tarp after setting everything up the left front coilover snapped making him unable to drive for the first few hours. Amazingly he was able to get ahold of some D2 coils, new in box, from another driver at the event. A few friends sped away collecting them at his garage a few km’s away and Isak was able to put the car back together. I love Isak’s aggressive driving style and it’s always a blast watching him send it. Unfortunately he later snapped an axel, once again making the car stuck in the pits.

Part 3 -
Oaktree Outlaws

The first time I saw the Oaktree guys’s cars was at Next Level Drift in Poland in 2019. Alex’s (@omgitsalexperc) S13 had it’s old Origin kit, CR Kai’s and was all black still waiting for it’s green and pink 2020 livery. Victor (@vickehn) wasn’t part of the Oaktree team yet and drove his old super sick Supra.

During 2020 I helped Perc with some design projects and other stuff and when he asked med if I wanted a place on his 2021 livery the answer was obvious. I got to see sneak-peaks of the design mockups on both Alex’s and Victor’s liveries and I knew they were going to turn out amazing, but the real deal turned out even better than I could’ve made up in my mind. @dman.dw did a great job on the design!

It do be like that sometimes…

Alex is sill rocking a black paint job as a base, and color matched Kansei Tandem wheels and tail lights, which looks amazing. Chrome green as the main color highlighted with light blue flames, logos and striping along the bottom of the kit and on the rear of the spoiler. A shop.lardel.com logo on the bumper, hood, window streamer on the rear window above the Vanilla Unicorn decal (those who knows know) and small SLC decal on the tail light, A-bo Moon style, is well appreciated support <3!

Victors fresh S14 build features the same livery style, but with printed and faded red flames, still highlighted with blue flames and logos, and pink striping along the bottom of the kit matching the Kansei wheels perfectly. And rocking a SLC banner at the bottom of the front window and a reflective SLC license plate frame to top it of. Much love <3!

Uhm…. I don’t know how to caption the following pictures…

Two great looking cars. Stoked to see the other two Oaktree members future liveries as well.

Was great to get a look at the Vicious Company S14 too. Super clean.

Overall a super great, well sought after day at the track, meeting nice people, seeing sick cars. Can’t wait to meet (hopefully) all of you again at the next MKÖ event in August! Or maybe at a Lardel meet sometime before that, who knows…

Hope you enjoyed this little coverage. I’m excited to continue making new Stories and evolving photo-wise.
Until next time!
